The Key Factors Controlling the Seasonality of Planetary Climate

Several different factors influence the seasonal cycle of a planet. This study uses general circulation model and an energy balance (EBM) to assess parameters that govern cycle. We define two metrics describe cycle, ?s, latitudinal shift maximum temperature, ?T, temperature variation amplitude. show alongside expected dependence on obliquity orbital period, where seasonality generally strengthens with increase in these parameters, depends nontrivial way rotation rate. While amplitude decreases as rate slows down, shift, shifts poleward. A similar result occurs diffusive EBM increasing diffusivity. These results suggest stems from effect atmospheric heat transport.
